Harrods was a grand success this morning. When I had finished my shopping I took the tube a bit further to a cafe called 'Ciao' where I knew I could get my spaghetti ice cream - it was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite.
A short walk in the other direction put me smack in the center of a mob (much of which had been camped out since Tuesday) of Harry Potter fanatics. I got to see the setup for the film's formal world premiere and even had my picture taken on the red carpet (I'll upload it later to share). George and Sarah rang while I was in the crowd and we decided to meet at the V&A Museum. I saw the jewelry wing, theatre/performing arts costumes (Elton John, Dame Edna, Mick Jagger), and a replica of Kylie Minogue's dressing room from her last world tour. My favorite part of what I saw was undoubtedly the sketches and hand-painted drawings by Beatrix Potter. Many drawings of Peter Rabbit and his storybook friends. It was fascinating to see conceptual drawings, first published drawings and final renderings of the images for pass publishing. Potter's stories have always been favorites of mine, so to see her original pencil and pen drawings was an absolute treat.
Dinner followed the museum and George took us to a Japanese place called Misato. I had a sushi bento box and Sarah and George both had chicken. We chased dinner with a trip to a hookah bar. George ordered a tobacco-less mix which I tried, but my lungs didn't approve.
Before we ended the night we made a stop at Tesco to pick up groceries and essentials for me to take back with me to include: Cadbury chocolates, salt and vinegar crisps, Bitter Lemon, and Tesco's version of Lemsip.
In the hotel, up way past my bedtime, so I am going to call it a night. Tomorrow: wake up and make a stop at Boots before I catch the bus to the airport.
